Hi and welcome!

I'm Louisa, a twenty-something newly qualified paediatric nurse. I wanted to create this blog as a source of inspiration, advice and motivation for student nurses, qualified staff and anyone considering a career in the health sector. Here you'll find informative articles to do with all things nursing, as well as my personal blog charting my survival as a new nurse on the ward!

I always knew I wanted a career that involving learning and caring. When I first left school I thought I wanted to work with animals and started a Zoology degree. However, a few months in I knew it wasn't for me and due to other circumstances I dropped out and returned home, feeling completely lost and confused as to where I was headed in life.

Fast forward a year, and I'd picked myself back up and started a Psychology degree, which I enjoyed much more. I discovered I was very interested in Health Psychology and began researching careers in the health sector. Nursing had never previously been on my radar, but something about it drew me in. I liked the variety it offered and I knew it would provide me with lifelong opportunities to learn and care.

So finally, 3 years ago, after completing my Psychology degree and taking some time off to travel the world, I began my journey into nursing and started my Pre-Registration Masters degree. Third time's a charm they say!

So if you want some advice or just want to track the ups and downs of the life of a nurse, follow my journey as I hit the wards for real. There'll be good times, challenges, tears, but lots of laughter along the way too I'm sure!

Thanks for stopping by!
